Grace Lee's American Zombie is by no means your average zombie flick. It's a mockumentary that follows a group of oppressed zombies and their struggles to be recognized as more than just a bunch of faceless, gut-chomping heathens — sure, they have a an insatiable appetite for human flesh, but that doesn't mean that they don't have rights too! This novel comedy definitely gives us a new take on the zombie film and it's subject matter could only have been brought to us from a feminine perspective, a voice that knows full well what it's like to underestimated by the majority of society due to outdated social norms.
