Hard-boiled Wonderland and the End of the World by Haruki Murakami

Haruki Murakami is pretty closed to a household name among readers of all sorts of different genres, but Hard-boiled Wonderland and the End of the World is generally a novel of his that seems to float a bit below the radar. This one is one of his most surreal works ever, in which a character lives in two worlds and it's never really clear which one is real and which one isn't. Highly recommended.
