She started the series by sketching Petra and thinking about the story behind this world and its characters. Bordeyne said as she was thinking, it came naturally.

“For Petra, I'd say it was quite easy to re-write her character since I'm a girl and I'm always putting a bit of myself into my characters. I can't draw a character and not think about his or her story,” she explained. “Oddly enough, when I re-read the original novel, I thought I had changed a lot of details about each character, but they still have a lot in common!”
