Lieutenant Commander Data, a sentient android who also serves as commanding science officer aboard the Enterprise on Star Trek: The Next Generation, is one of the most adored characters in all of sci-fi history. In spite of his lack of being an actual human, he often displayed more humanity than just about anyone aboard the Enterprise, and is perhaps the last great character that genius Gene Roddenberry created.
