Giant Weta

The giant weta—endemic to New Zealand’s Little Barrier Island—is not only the largest of all species of weta, but also insects as a whole, weighing in at roughly 72g (holy Toledo, that’s a lot of bug!). It’s hard not to shudder over the notion of such a massive creepy-crawly, though losing oneself in the giant weta’s beady little eyes—and thinking about that photo of it munching on a carrot—you'll come around to embracing the cuteness eventually.
