The Conquered Shore by Mark Whiteway

Mixing fantasy and science fiction in a convincing and seamless way is a really tall task, but English writer Mark Whiteway has succeeded every time in his Lodestone series. The Conquered Shore is the fifth book in that wonderful series, and continues the same standard of quality as the previous four entries. It may not be the ideal place to start, but you really can’t go wrong with the series as a whole.
