Lilith’s Brood by Octavia E. Spencer

The first science fiction writer to be awarded the MacArthur Genius Grant, Octavia E. Spencer has a career full of genius works. Perhaps her most important and most widely known is Lilith’s Brood, a trilogy that examines race, gender roles, and species through a story that involves humanity being saved by an alien race that has three genders. It’s a difficult series to summarize, but contains endless possibilities for discussion and a really enriching read.
