Noughts & Crosses by Malorie Blackman

There’s no better way to hold up the magnifying glass to our society’s racism than by creating a fiction that flips everything on its head. In Malorie Blackman’s modern dystopian classic Noughts & Crosses, dark-skinned people are doing some serious oppressing of the Caucasian folk in a strange, racist dystopia. The whole series is notable and worth-reading, but it would only take the first novel to really get some good discussion rolling in any sort of classroom.
