2. “The War Games”

One of the longest stories in Doctor Who history, totaling up to more than 4 hours, "The War Games" was written very quickly by Doctor Who writing legends Malcolm Hulke and Terrance Dicks almost immediately before beginning production. They knew they had to end it with losing the Second Doctor, but other than that, just had to go with it and make an insane 10-part story. It introduces us for the first time to the Time Lords, who end the story by essentially condemning the Second Doctor to his death for meddling in time. It drags a little at times but is really something to behold, as it is super epic and has a great ending that is more sad than satisfying, but feels perfect for the story.
