6. The Doctor Who Movie

The show had been cancelled after the 1989 season, but luckily Sylvester McCoy was brought back for the 1996 TV Movie to have a proper sendoff for his incarnation of the character. It seems positively un-Whoish to have the Doctor essentially die in gang crossfire, and later helped along by the fact that the surgeon killed him by not knowing he had two hearts, but it’s kind of bizarrely awesome anyway. Still, The Doctor Who Movie is actually pretty great for all of its camp goodness, and Paul McGann grabs the reins vigorously when he takes over.
