Hey, Whatever Happened To...

Jake Lloyd

Confused as to just who this Jake Lloyd guy is? Well, Lloyd came to fame as young Anakin Skywalker in George Lucas’ often maligned Star Wars Episode 1: The Phantom Menace. In spite of its box office success, the film is despised by most fans, and perhaps because of this, Lloyd was the victim of quite a bit of bullying from his classmates as he grew up. As a result of this and the stress of life as a celebrity, Lloyd quit acting and eventually destroyed all of his Star Wars memorabilia, and has been quoted as saying that he can’t even watch the films anymore because he finds them too “creepy”. Fortunately, Lloyd hasn’t quit the business entirely; he graduated from Columbia College Chicago film school in 2012, and makes frequent appearances at sci-fi festivals.
