Just take a look at this video. CREEPY.

Michael Fassbender, who plays David, has said this about his character: "David's views on the human crew are somewhat childlike. He is jealous and arrogant because he realizes that his knowledge is all-encompassing, and therefore he is superior to the humans. David wants to be acknowledged and praised for his brilliance." Though he may be childlike and creepy, he’s definitely on a path leading him to a more human destination.
