Although we are smarter than chimps, they beat us in their aptitude for photographic memory. This has been demonstrated in experiments in which numbers are jumbled and flashed onto a screen for a split second, after which chimps were often able to quickly point out the positions they appeared in ascending order. In these tests chimps beat even world memory champion Ben Pridmore in the majority of attempts.
