The MindHut Guide to Visiting Exoplanets

Gliese 581 d

Thought Tau Boötis b was only a stone's throw away? Try the Gliese 581 system if you really want to go local, because it's only 20 light years distant. You could be there and back in time for the Singularity! One of this star's most promising planets is Gliese 581 d, which is likely a terrestrial planet 7 times as massive as Earth covered in a thick film of gas. In October 2008, we humans transmitted a number of good tidings to this system, which should arrive there in 2029. Hopefully, we'll hear back around 2049!

What to bring: Pfft, who needs to pack? Cosmically speaking, this planet is practically our backyard.
