There is no cuteness like marsupial cuteness. This infraclass of mammals is famous for raising their young in belly pouches, which is about the most aww-some adaptation ever evolved. The quokka is a rare member of this group, limited to a very small region of southwest Australia. But what it lacks in numbers it makes up for in cuteness. Like the dik-dik, the quokka has old-fashioned family dynamics: a breeding pair will only produce one child at at time, and devote an entire year to their special baby. No sibling rivalry for these darling marsupials.
