Alexander Dumas’ The Three Musketeers

The original The Three Musketeers was set in 17th century France, as the group were being hunted by Milady de Winter, a spy hired by Cardinal Richelieu. In a modern version, perhaps their vigilantes with sunglasses and silenced handguns taking out organized crime thugs and corrupt politicians a la Boondock Saints? We can replace Cardinal Richelieu with a creepy mob boss called simply The Cardinal. This stuff practically writes itself!
