Edgar Allen Poe’s “The Tell-Tale Heart”

Making a show based on an individual short story may seem slightly crazy, but with the right cast and some big ideas, it could definitely work. The original story surrounds a man who supposedly hears the heartbeat of a man he killed underneath his floorboards, and he is plagued by the murder in a very Crime & Punishment sort of way. As a series, writers could incorporate tons of elements from other Poe stories, to make a really compelling show about a man who has a compulsive need to kill but a crippling regret every time he does it. Maybe he can have a Raven for a sidekick?
