This step may look a little tricky, but I assure it’s not. Take your folded chains and slip them through the washers, folded side first. The folded side should make a loop. Pull the ends of the chains through the loop and tighten. (I used a crochet hook to help with this, but it’s easily done without one.) For those nerds who know knots, this is essentially a Cow Hitch knot, though we didn’t go about it the traditional way.
