Dinosaurs Aced Parenthood
Last week, the oldest fossilized remains of a live birth were discovered in China, becoming the latest of many discoveries that have shed light on parenthood in the Mesozoic world. Among the most revelatory of these discoveries is the Egg Mountain fossil bed in Montana, named because—you guessed it—it's a giant dinosaur nursery. The patch was once home to adorable baby Maiasaurs, who were cared for with great devotion by the adults in the pack until they were ready to leave the nest. Far from being brutish monsters, these finds prove that some dinosaurs had a soft side underneath the rough hide.
