The MindHut 2014 Spring Reading List

Kim Stanley Robinson – 2312

When it comes to fairly realistic space travel and the growth of civilization through the stars, there aren’t many names bigger than Kim Stanley Robinson. He’s best known for his Mars trilogy, which won so many awards we don’t even wanna list ‘em. 2312 is set in the future (2312, to be exact), where humanity has spread across the solar system and settled just about everywhere. The majority of the action takes place on Mercury, in a giant city built on tracks so that it can constantly move around and keep itself out of the direct sunlight that might be a bit of a bad thing when you’re that close to it. Crazy, brilliant stuff that just begs to be read by astronomy dorks like ourselves.
