Lauren Beukes - The Shining Girls

Mystery and time travel are definitely two elements that need to be combined more often. Lauren Beukes is one of the most interesting writers working today, and The Shining Girls is her best novel yet. It’s a murder mystery involving a serial killer that preys on women and essentially uses their essence to travel time and find his next victim. The hero is Kirby, a young woman interning at a Chicago newspaper who managed to survive an attack by the killer, and makes it her life’s mission to find him and bring him to justice.
