Science Fact or Science Fiction: Heroes Of Science Edition!

By Vadim Newquist Mar 17, 2014

FICTION! It is a popular misconception that evolution explains how life came into being. This is another branch of science entirely known as abiogenesis. Evolution only covers how life developed once it had already come into being.

ALL of the following is true about mathematician and computer scientist Alan Turing:

1. He used to chain his coffee mug to a radiator so no one would use it.
2. He would often jog over 30 miles to important meetings.
3. In 1948 he wrote a chess program, even though the computer needed to play it hadn’t been invented.
4. He was fascinated by Snow White, which eventually inspired him to commit suicide by consuming a poisoned apple.
