There seems to be no end to the creative ways artists show their love of science fiction and fantasy. Fan art is a popular way to do this but lately there’s been an interesting trend of artists incorporating their favorite geeky things into work that’s already completed. These often classic works contrast with the sci-fi elements added, yet it all comes together in an amazing way that often goes viral.

That’s what happened to Italian illustrator Franco Brambilla who has done this in a fantastic series called “Invading the Vintage.” Brambilla inserts science fiction elements from movies and TV shows into old postcards.

Learn about the series from the artist himself and see characters from Doctor Who, Star Wars, and more in vintage postcards on the following slides!
