No artist riffed on mathematics quite like M.C. Escher. His lithographs, mezzotints, and woodcuts are inspired by geometry, and elegantly illustrate its innate beauty and limitations. This sculpture of a stellated dodecahedron brings one of Escher's sketches to life—you can visit it if you ever happen to be on the campus of the University of Twente in the Netherlands.
