Neuromancer by William Gibson

The novel that essentially started it all, Neuromancer follows a computer hacker named Case as he gets into a pretty terrifying battle with a computer virus that has basically become completely sentient. The internet, called cyberspace, is eerily similar to the all-consuming web we all now know, love, and fear.
