J.J. Abrams Reveals the Star Wars X-Wing!

In the latest promotional video for the UNICEF /J.J. Abrams “Force For Change,” initiative, the director of Star Wars: Episode VII teased out probably the most familiar Star Wars-y thing yet: an X-Wing Fighter! Featuring a slightly sleeker design from the classic films, what appears to be a rebel pilot boarding, and a blue (rather than the traditional red) stripe down the fuselage, this is the X-Wing fighter of the future. Maybe it belongs to a squadron attached the New Republic’s incarnation of Rogue Squadron? Maybe it’s a freelance X-Wing? Despite some fan theories that this was a Z-95 Headhunter and not an X-Wing, Lucasfilm has said an X-Wing is an X-wing. Check out the video!

The Force for Change donation drive is designed to support the international organization UNICEF, a branch of the United Nations which provides aid to mothers in children in the world in need of medicine, food, education and other humanitarian programs. By donating to this particular cause, Abrams and Lucasfilm are offering chances for donors to be entered into a drawing which could result in them actually showing up in Star Wars Episode VII. Check out the details here.

What kind of X-Wing is this? Blue Squadron? Rogue Squadron? Silver Spar Squadron? (Anyone gets that last reference?)
