Pride and Prejudice and Zombies Gets Its Cast!

Those of you who love Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, the irreverent re-imagining of an Austen classic, are about to hear some good news—WE HAVE A CASTING UPDATE. While the road to production of this adaptation has been rocky, with Lily Collins, Emma Stone, and Natalie Portman all said to be signed on to play Elizabeth Bennet at different times, we’ve gotten the latest update on who is playing the main characters of this gory, yet mannered tale.

Lily James, of Downtown Abbey fame, will look radiant in her blood-spattered gown as Elizabeth Bennet. Sam Riley, whose brooding locks previously graced Maleficent, will become the newest incarnation of Mr. Darcy. Bella Heathcote, best known from Dark Shadows, will grace the screen as Jane Bennett, Elizabeth's sister. And though Natalie Portman is not acting in the film, she is still involved! She’s taken on a producer role for P&P&Z.

News that the movie production of our favorite zombie Regency love story is not, er, dead has awakened our necrotized hearts and stirred up all of the other things we are desirous that a film adaptation of P&P&Z should have.

We demand gorgeously detailed Regency gowns that are barbarically ruined by zombie brains!

We demand that Lady Catherine’s army of ninjas takes tea breaks!

We demand a ratio of one hundred on-screen deaths for every on-screen kiss!

We demand one heavily veiled reference to Buffy the Vampire Slayer (we’ll even write it for you: “Elizabeth, forgetting for a moment her ladylike manners in the dispatching of a particularly obstinate zombie ex-suitor, said in a harsh tone that he would be more welcome at the mouth of hell than her doorstep.”)!
