Reading Comprehension
Reading Comprehension (RC) tests your ability to read and process written
information. But GRE reading isn’t like normal, everyday reading. This chapter
will show you how to read GRE passages effectively, what to look for when you
read, and most important, how to pick the right answers.
RC passages are generally taken from the fields of natural science, social
science, and the humanities. The test makers draw the passages from various
sources, including scholarly journals, magazines, biographies, works of
literature, and textbooks. The passages mimic the material you’ll be reading in
grad school, with advanced vocabulary, complex sentence structure, and
complicated ideas.
