Gameplan
As with the other two sections, we provide you with a specialized gameplan to
ensure you maximize your score and your study time is efficient. Here’s how we
organized the chapter:
- X-ray of a Typical Reading Comprehension Passage: First we’ll
get familiar with the components of the Reading Comp package: the directions,
the passage, and the question set.
- Essential Elements: There are seven core elements that you
will need to extract from each Reading Comp passage to succeed on the section.
You’ll learn the key points to focus on in each paragraph and will get practice
spotting these elements in four paragraphs of a sample passage.
- Essential Strategy: Next you’ll be introduced to a general
strategy that you’ll follow for every Reading Comp passage. The method will be
demonstrated in the context of actual passages.
- Question Types: There are eight common Reading Comp question
types, and we’ll go over every one and detail the specific issues and traps you
might meet up with on test day.
- The New Paired Passages: Here we’ll go over the new Reading
Comp passage type that asks you to compare and contrast two passages on the same
topic. We’ll also revisit the Essential Strategy, retailored to work with the
paired passages, as well as the special question types that accompany paired
passages on the new LSAT.
- The Real Deal: Here you’ll apply what you’ve learned to two
real LSAT Reading Comp passages.
NOTE: The “Real Deal” practice set contains
actual LSAT reading passages from previous exams and could not be included
in the online version of this book.
Afterward you can also
reinforce what you’ve learned by working on four more Reading Comp passages in
the practice test at the end of the book.
Let’s get started.
