The 9 Most Common Mistakes
As you prepare, keep the following common
mistakes in mind. Some are mistakes to avoid when taking the actual
test. Others are mistakes to avoid during your preparation for the
test.
-
Forgetting the basic formulas that are associated
with DS&P. (Know these formulas!)
- Forgetting
to look for the hidden, unstated pieces of the puzzle that hold
the key to an item.
- Trying
to work an item in your head instead of writing your work down.
- Not
picking the answer the item asks for. Are you falling for a distractor?
- Failing
to work through the practice sets in this book—reading the book
is not enough.
- Failing
to practice the step methods on every practice item. You need these
methods when the answer isn’t obvious to you.
- Refusing
to guess after eliminating one or more answer choices.
- Answering
every item in order.
- Rushing
through a set instead of thinking each item through.
