The
Math SAT
The math
half of the SAT spans three timed sections, three different
question types, and a total of 60 questions. The three types of
math questions are quite different from each other. For now, we
will just name them, but we will cover each type in more detail
later. On the test, you will find:
- 35 multiple-choice questions (MC)
- 15 quantitative comparisons (QC)
- 10 grid-ins (GI)
These three question types are always divided into the
following sections.
- A 30-minute section containing 25 MCs
- A 30-minute section containing 15 QCs and 10 GIs
- A 15-minute section containing 10 MCs
The questions in these timed sections are ordered by difficulty.
The first third of the questions will generally be easy, the second
third moderate, and the last third difficult.
