Singular Subjects
There are many subjects that look plural but are actually singular. Here is a list of some tricky singular nouns and pronouns:
Nouns Pronouns
America anybody
amount anyone
audience each
crowd either
a couple everybody
family everyone
group neither
a number nobody
none
no one
one
Be sure to match these nouns with singular verbs, not plural verbs.
• Neither of them likes MTV.
• As her family cheers her to victory, Caitlin sets the world record in trampoline jumping.
