a bibliography—an alphabetized list of the books or articles consulted.
This section may also be titled “Works Cited,” especially if most
of the entries are referenced in the body of your work. The entries
should be listed in alphabetical order.
Books
List the author’s name, the title (in italics), the
location of the publishing company, the publishing company, and
the year of publication.
• Tillman, Joseph. The Works
of Weird Al. New York: Record & Reed, 2001. Editors and Translators
List the author’s name first, followed by the title
of the book (in italics), the name(s) of the editor(s) and/or translator(s),
the location of the publishing company, the publishing company,
and the year of publication.
• Erdem, Erhan. Oh, Champs-Elysees! Edited
by Renee Duchamps. Translated by Suzanna Carr. Paris: EMA, 1997. Two Authors
List the authors in the order in which they’re listed
on the title page, the title of the book (in italics), the location
of the publishing company, the publishing company, and the year
of publication. Only the first author’s name need be last name first.
• Isaacson, Anna, and Keeshon Smith. The
Brooklyn Cyclones: A Tale of Minor League Magic. London:
St. James Press, 2005. Repeated Author
To cite two or more books by the same author, list
the information in full the first time around, as described above.
In the following entry or entries, replace the author’s name with
three dashes.
• Medvedovsky, Betsy. Berlin
Is for Lovers. Boston: Flamingo Books, 2005.
• ———. Found in Translation:
Tales from a Language Lab. New York: SparkNotes, 2005.
Articles
List the author’s name, the title of the article (in
quotation marks), the name of the periodical in which the article
appeared (in italics), the volume number of the periodical, the
date the article appeared, and the pages on which the article appeared.
• Barnett, Laurie. “The Truth About Dogs.” Pet
Fancy 4 (2003): 2–6.
