Double Negatives
Double negatives are two negative words placed next to each other. This is never correct and will often imply the opposite of what is intended.
Undesirable: When Mama ain’t happy, ain’t nobody happy.
Better: When Mama isn’t happy, nobody is happy.
Undesirable: Suzanna can’t scarcely wait for homecoming.
Better: Suzanna can scarcely wait for homecoming.
