as hot as toaster coils, a sky like a murky sea, or a blonde with
legs made of rubber. So although the occasional simile or metaphor
can sparkle, especially if it is unique and likely to strike the
reader as true, avoid filling your writing with figures of speech.
After a while, your readers will give up or grow resentful.
