History nerds, our time has come. It&#8217;s the dawn of a new age, and Lin is our President (I&#8217;d say king, but that seems wrong). Started from the bottom* \u00a0now we here.<\/p>\n<p>Before I begin, I&#8217;d like to tell you guys about the \u00a0revelation I had as soon as \u00a0I&#8217;d \u00a0parked my butt in the Richard Rogers theater&#8217;s folding seat: \u00a0In seventh grade, at the same time that \u00a0my \u00a0English teacher was running a poetry unit on Tupac (yes, really), my History teacher was schooling us on the Revolution. \u00a0I AM FORTUNE&#8217;S FOOL. Anyway.<\/p>\n<p><em>*<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=c9jQ-0dMHoU\" target=\"_blank\">Liberty&#8217;s Kids<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/img.sparknotes.com\/content\/sparklife\/sparktalk\/hamiltontheater1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"608\" height=\"470\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I have a lot to say about this musical, all of which I HAVE cried about and will again if you ask me about it in person. For one, I&#8217;m pleased \u00a0to announce that Cory O&#8217;Brien <a href=\"http:\/\/www.barnesandnoble.com\/w\/george-washington-is-cash-money-cory-obrien\/1120624872\" target=\"_blank\">was right<\/a>: \u00a0Alexander Hamilton is a straight-up G. \u00a0For another, I&#8217;ve never in my life seen \u00a0such a high concentration of sock\u00c3\u00a8d calves and \u00a0breeches in one place besides <em>maybe<\/em> \u00a0a high school football game.<\/p>\n<p>The calves weren&#8217;t the half of it, though. <em>Hamilton<\/em> \u00a0had puns, it had \u00a0waistcoats, it had hamstrings, it had more instances of <a href=\"https:\/\/d12edgf4lwbh8j.cloudfront.net\/entry\/photo\/Hamilton--Broadway--GIFs-.jpg\" target=\"_blank\">grl power<\/a> than <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vulture.com\/2016\/01\/read-the-actual-reynolds-pamphlet-from-hamilton.html\" target=\"_blank\">Reynolds Pamphlets<\/a> scattered all over the stage&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>And it had not enough tricorn hats to contain my tears.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/img.sparknotes.com\/content\/sparklife\/sparktalk\/hamiltontheater2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"608\" height=\"470\" \/><br \/>\n<em>The room where it happens<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The \u00a0most buttery parts, in bold:<\/p>\n<p><strong>LIN&#8217;S FACE, \u00a0<\/strong>which, unless prone to eyeball sweat, cried visible tears at least twice during the show. It&#8217;s no surprise that the entire theater collectively <a href=\"https:\/\/welcometomoyatown.files.wordpress.com\/2015\/03\/cant-even.jpg\" target=\"_blank\">ceased to even<\/a> \u00a0when our Lord and Savior Lin-Manuel entered stage right in \u00a0buckled shoes and pony tail. His first words\u2014&#8221;<em>Alexander Hamilton&#8230;<\/em>&#8220;\u2014made the audience do this weird little sob-squeak, which in retrospect might&#8217;ve just been me. What I&#8217;m sure of is that in that moment, all nine million people in the \u00a0theater had 100% yielded \u00a0to the Founding Fathers fandom, which meant that \u00a0Lin was nine million \u00a0steps closer to achieving <a href=\"https:\/\/upload.wikimedia.org\/wikipedia\/en\/1\/16\/Drevil_million_dollars.jpg\" target=\"_blank\">world domination<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Lin singing while he sprinted \u00a0up that staircase you see on \u00a0the left of the stage <em>three steps at a time<\/em>, and Daveed Diggs spitting verbal flames \u00a0while he ran \u00a0down, AS \u00a0IT SPUN.<\/strong> Idk. Idk.<\/p>\n<p><strong>George &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/OviOtfSjiTw?t=1m18s\" target=\"_blank\">Can I Be Real A Second<\/a>&#8221; Washington<\/strong>: Once upon a time, \u00a0I told you guys \u00a0that I thought George Washington and his cherry tree should \u00a0take a hike. I&#8217;m sorry. I take it back. Chris Jackson both stole my heart and revived my fascination with GW&#8217;s hair, which, for the record, \u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/phenomena.nationalgeographic.com\/2015\/06\/09\/george-washingtons-oh-so-mysterious-hair\/\" target=\"_blank\">was not a wig<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>I remember reading a review that called his version of \u00a0Washington &#8220;John Legend meets Mufasa,&#8221; and I&#8217;m here to report that while \u00a0this \u00a0is entirely accurate, \u00a0I&#8217;d \u00a0add that his performance can be summed up by \u00a0either of these memes: <a href=\"http:\/\/40.media.tumblr.com\/266b46a7fa1f2d0a97d014e09df18460\/tumblr_n6u33fteJm1qei28to5_r1_540.png\" target=\"_blank\">#1<\/a>, \u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/56.media.tumblr.com\/7c491895707168310546090a4efdb04c\/tumblr_o0verhp8Pb1umj3w6o1_540.jpg\" target=\"_blank\">#2<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><b>Renee Elise Goldsberry<\/b><strong> (Angelica Schuyler)<\/strong> <strong>pulling a <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/C0U4aDOjr_M?t=1m39s\" target=\"_blank\">Busta Rhymes<\/a> <\/strong>in &#8220;Satisfied&#8221; (listen <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=JrbCFR1FsZk\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>). This woman can sing and she can rap and she holds it down on a stage full of dudes, thanks in part to LMM for letting us know that behind every Founding Father was an even greater <a href=\"http:\/\/www.newyorker.com\/culture\/cultural-comment\/the-women-of-hamilton\" target=\"_blank\">boss lady<\/a>. Most notably, on the Declaration of Independence: &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.awyisser.com\/assets\/images\/thumbnail.png\" target=\"_blank\">When I meet Thomas Jefferson \/ I&#8217;m &#8216;a compel him to include women in the sequel<\/a>.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>The on-stage makeouts. \u00a0<\/strong>There are more than one.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Daveed Diggs&#8217; beefcake French accent <\/strong>in a rap context, \u00a0which is the best thing to happen on Earth since camembert. \u00a0You probably know that Daveed doubles as General Marquis de Lafayette (spicy French dude, good friend of Hams) AND Thomas Jefferson (our third president), but what was news to me, was that \u00a0I don&#8217;t think I&#8217;d ever seen anyone pull off a cravat that majestically \u00a0in all my living days. P.s. <a href=\"http:\/\/45.media.tumblr.com\/a89b12f40330548f7f9ea3415c9e73fa\/tumblr_ny178wm74j1ukhudfo1_540.gif\" target=\"_blank\">He made it rain pamphlets<\/a>, so now I know how to get people to read my opinion piece \u00a0about use of cilantro in restaurants.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Jonathan Groffsauce a.k.a. King George \u00a0yawping \u00a0<\/strong>&#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.telegraph.co.uk\/news\/celebritynews\/3063743\/John-Adams-How-the-US-learnt-to-love-this-loser.html\" target=\"_blank\">John ADAMS???????<\/a>&#8221; when he learns that&#8217;s who will be his former colonies&#8217; second-ever president. Because in his mind, if this were \u00a0<em>High School Musical<\/em>, he \u00a0would be Corbin Bleu \u00a0and John Adams would be Cafeteria Extra #17.*<\/p>\n<p>*Buzzfeed told me my Founding Father soulmate was John Adams and I&#8217;m still mad about it.<\/p>\n<p><strong>All the times I thought, \u00a0<em>OH MY GOD<\/em><\/strong>:<\/p>\n<p>Hams: &#8220;Don&#8217;t modulate the key, then not debate with me&#8221; OH MY GOD<br \/>\nHams: &#8220;I&#8217;d rather be divisive than indecisive&#8221; OH MY GOD<br \/>\nAngelica: &#8220;Burr, you disgust me&#8221; \/ Burr: &#8220;Ah, so you&#8217;ve discussed me&#8221; OH MY GOD<br \/>\nJefferson: &#8220;I get no satisfaction witnessing his fits of passion, \u00a0he dresses like the pits of fashion&#8221; OH MY GOD<br \/>\nJefferson: &#8220;If the shoe fits, wear it&#8221; \/ Hamilton: &#8220;Turn around, bend over, I&#8217;ll show you where my shoe fits&#8221; <em>OH MY GOD<\/em><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/img.sparknotes.com\/content\/sparklife\/sparktalk\/hamiltontheater3.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"608\" height=\"470\" \/><br \/>\n<em>Me, mid-sob<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Takeaways:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Lin-Manuel Miranda can&#8217;t be human<\/li>\n<li>I ship Hamilton and Washington<\/li>\n<li>Potential spinoffs: Angelica and Eliza \u00a0Take Miami, Mythbusters: Was John Adams a loser or NOT?, a talkshow hosted by Snoop Dogg and Lin as Alexander Hamilton, a historical version of \u00a0Law &amp; Order that focuses \u00a0on illegal duels and Jack McCoy is Ben Franklin (?) Just spitballing.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>It&#8217;s no coincidence that the popularity of \u00a0<em>Hamilton<\/em> and \u00a0and the popularization \u00a0of the Founding Fathers fandom, \u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/community.sparknotes.com\/2015\/12\/14\/the-20-best-people-things-and-threadbare-henleys-of-2015-according-to-us-sparklife\/slide\/20\" target=\"_blank\">hereby \u00a0explained<\/a> by Sparkitor Janet, happened simultaneously. The \u00a0best thing about the \u00a0fandom isn&#8217;t even its strange obsession with James Madison; it&#8217;s that there are NO SPOILERS, because history. Guys, people are cosplaying Angelica Schuyler. I saw the phrase &#8220;steampunk Hamilton&#8221; somewhere \u00a0on \u00a0Reddit. \u00a0IMAGINE the possibilities, Sparklers. For example, \u00a0a well-known pickup line, tailored to the fandom:<\/p>\n<p>Person 1: Got a raisin?<br \/>\nPerson 2: No<br \/>\nPerson 1: How &#8217;bout a date?<br \/>\nPerson 2: Haha, that&#8217;s cute. Sure!<br \/>\nPerson 1: September 25, 1789.
