Rowling&#8217;s brainchild be if not for all its moms? Let&#8217;s explore.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/img.sparknotes.com\/content\/sparklife\/sparktalk\/hpmoms_molly.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"701\" height=\"200\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/community.sparknotes.com\/2016\/05\/04\/the-coolest-moms-in-fiction-ranked\/slide\/15\" target=\"_blank\">Molly Weasley<\/a> \u2014<\/strong> \u00a0Harry&#8217;s proxy parent \u00a0from the very moment he \u00a0realizes that Hagrid conveniently omitted directions to \u00a0Platform 9 3\/4. If you&#8217;ll recall, Mrs. Weasley \u00a0is the one who pushes \u00a0Harry \u00a0trolley-first into a \u00a0brick wall; she is the one who lovingly hurries he \u00a0and Ron towards the Hogwarts Express (&#8220;off you go!&#8221;). And even though she has eight other mouths to feed, \u00a0at least three animals to take care of, \u00a0and a huge garden full of vegetation to de-gnome, *every* year she treats Harry as tenth member of the family.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Not least, she saw Bellatrix to her deserved end: being blasted to pieces \u00a0by Harry Potter&#8217;s Muggle-loving, hand-knit-sweater-wearing adopted mom who ensures the last word she ever hears in this life is an obscenity.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/img.sparknotes.com\/content\/sparklife\/sparktalk\/hpmoms_tonks.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"701\" height=\"200\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><strong>Tonks<\/strong> \u00a0is my momgoals. Immaculate being, model Hufflepuff. I think we can agree that there&#8217;s no space at all for criticism of this character aside from \u00a0her EXTREMELY UNNECESSARY \u00a0fate. Tonks falls in love with werewolf bae Remus Lupin (&#8220;I don&#8217;t care!&#8221; refers to her feelings toward his wolf-y genetic makeup), \u00a0and approximately five minutes after bearing his child gets back up to drive \u00a0the forces of evil into the ground.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Nymphadora gives her life so that her son can \u00a0grow up in a better world, devoid of toeless rats and overzealous depots, and that is the saddest, most mom thing \u00a0that \u00a0ever was. The same can be said for:<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/img.sparknotes.com\/content\/sparklife\/sparktalk\/hpmoms_lily.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"701\" height=\"200\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><a href=\"http:\/\/community.sparknotes.com\/2016\/05\/04\/the-coolest-moms-in-fiction-ranked\/slide\/12\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Lily<\/strong> \u00a0<strong>Potter<\/strong><\/a> \u00a0is an indisputable 11\/10 on the mom scale, having saved her only son \u00a0from Voldemort&#8217;s murder \u00a0stick through literally only her feelings. \u00a0The Killing Curse is serious business. You saw what Mad-Eye Crouch \u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/38.media.tumblr.com\/tumblr_lej0cgtHLi1qd5525o1_500.gif\" target=\"_blank\">did to that poor, unsuspecting mutant spider<\/a> \u00a0in \u00a0<em>GoF<strong>.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">But \u00a0because Voldemort underestimates the eternal bond of \u00a0fam \u00a0(I mean, I don&#8217;t blame him; who would&#8217;ve tested the \u00a0side effects of maternal \u00a0feels on the Unforgivable Curses), Harry lives. Then half-dies in book seven. Then lives again!<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/img.sparknotes.com\/content\/sparklife\/sparktalk\/hpmoms_ginnyhermione.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"701\" height=\"200\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><strong>Hermione and Ginny<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">It was doubly \u00a0weird to see these two in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ew.com\/sites\/default\/files\/styles\/tout_image_612x380\/public\/i\/2012\/02\/24\/harry-potter_510.jpg?itok=Y3QSCsd8\" target=\"_blank\">nineteen-years-later makeup<\/a> (the artists got Ginevra&#8217;s haircut \u00a0all wrong), but correct me if I&#8217;m wrong in saying that \u00a0both of them would be particularly \u00a0chill as moms. Having narrowly escaped the wrath of snakeface and his \u00a0cronies probably puts you in a good position to not make a big deal out of most situations, because nothing your kids will ever experience could be a third as bad as being possessed by a sentient diary.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Both Gryffindors live up to their House descriptions (courageous lionesses) and \u00a0make A+ role models for their offspring.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/img.sparknotes.com\/content\/sparklife\/sparktalk\/hpmoms_voldemort.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"701\" height=\"200\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><strong>Voldemort<\/strong>: While we have no way of knowing his parenting techniques, \u00a0I would guess that LV was either a) a helicopter \u00a0mom, \u00a0or b) a \u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/thoughtcatalog.files.wordpress.com\/2013\/08\/tumblr_mn8cfyqlpl1rvkb0to1_500.gif?w=500&amp;h=228\" target=\"_blank\">cool mom<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">If we&#8217;re \u00a0basing this solely on \u00a0the interactions we&#8217;ve observed in canon, I&#8217;d \u00a0choose \u00a0helicopter. A tough love relationship that would&#8217;ve guaranteed some \u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/lh5.googleusercontent.com\/-vxBPlZDV88E\/UdB2wdWrBGI\/AAAAAAAAS5k\/sR1Bt481E7k\/s640\/blogger-image--804230590.jpg\" target=\"_blank\">leash kid action<\/a> \u00a0had she been a human. \u00a0But given the Horcruxy circumstances, I&#8217;m more inclined to go with compensatory Cool Mom. Like, &#8220;Nagini, I might have to \u00a0use you as \u00a0vessel to contain a \u00a0piece of my \u00a0hell-bound soul but I&#8217;ll totally let you stay out as late as you want and harrow some \u00a0Mudbloods \u00a0if you just let it happen.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Sadly for Mom Riddle, not even the Elder Wand \u00a0could protect Nagini \u00a0from the determination and grit of Other Boy Who Lived. Moms can&#8217;t always be in \u00a0two* \u00a0places at once, I guess.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">*They can be in seven, tho<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone\" src=\"http:\/\/img.sparknotes.com\/content\/sparklife\/sparktalk\/hpmoms_hagrid.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"701\" height=\"200\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><strong>Hagrid<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><em>&#8220;I&#8217;ve decided to call him <em>Norbert<\/em>. He really knows me now, watch. <em>Norbert<\/em>! \u00a0<em>Norbert<\/em>! Where&#8217;s <em>Mummy<\/em>?&#8221; Ron: &#8220;He&#8217;s lost his marbles.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">We can agree to disagree, Roonil. I&#8217;d argue that if anything, Norbert was \u00a0welcome \u00a0marble reinforcement for poor Hagrid, <a href=\"http:\/\/community.sparknotes.com\/2016\/03\/14\/quiz-which-of-hagrids-mistakes-would-you-make-2\" target=\"_blank\">whose mistakes \u00a0were many<\/a> \u00a0over the course of \u00a0seven books. There&#8217;s something really sweet about \u00a0Hagrid as a brooding hen, forgiving her \u00a0for most things, including, but not limited to: \u00a0setting his facial hair aflame, possessing an inherent nature \u00a0to hunt and kill, and nearly pecking Ron&#8217;s hand off.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">That last one \u00a0sent \u00a0the dragon off to a \u00a0sanctuary in Romania. The result: Hagrid&#8217;s sobs \u00a0of loss \u00a0were \u00a0interspersed with \u00a0chuckles \u00a0when Charlie Weasley \u00a0discovered that Norbert \u00a0was actually Norberta.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><em>Which HP moms get a bouquet of daisies?<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>What would J.K.
