Usually, authors have REASONS for killing off characters, including but not limited to \u201cit was necessary to move the plot forward\u201d and also \u201cTHE SYMBOLISM.\u201d \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But other times, authors kill off characters for no reason other than \u201cWhy not?\u201d The character&#8217;s death serves no greater purpose, none at all, besides making you feel vaguely sad for the rest of the day so that all your normal activities (eating tacos, doing homework, summoning demons, whatever it is you do in your spare time) are tinged with melancholy.
