Scott Fitzgerald (Probably) Considered Before Settling on <i>The Great Gatsby<\/i>"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img src=\"http:\/\/img.sparknotes.com\/content\/sparklife\/sparktalk\/aug9messeduprelationshipssMAIN_LargeWide.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Naming things is hard, which is why I name all my documents things like \u201cproject draft,\u201d \u201cproject draft 1,\u201d \u201cproject draft 3222,\u201d and \u201casd3t2khjlp.\u201d If I ever decide to have kids, I have no reason to believe this trend won&#8217;t continue; the birth certificate will simply read \u201cPROJECT DRAFT FINAL VERSION FOR REAL THIS TIME ASDFGHJKL\u201d until I get around to naming the kid something better.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Similarly, F. Scott Fitzgerald struggled to find a name for his beloved novel, <em>The Great Gatsby<\/em>. He briefly considered Zuckerberging it and just going with <em>Gatsby<\/em> (dropping the &#8220;the,&#8221; and also &#8220;great&#8221;), but he also thought about <em>Among the Ash-Heaps and Millionaires<\/em> (meh), <em>On the Road to West Egg<\/em> (double meh), and <em>The High-Bouncing Lover<\/em> (what).&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And those are just the ones we know about. Here are some other titles I&#8217;m PRETTY sure F. Scott Fitzgerald definitely considered before just throwing his hands in the air and being like \u201cFINE. Let&#8217;s do <em>The Great Gatsby<\/em>. Let&#8217;s just do it. I don&#8217;t even care anymore.
