Other moms? Less so. To give you an example of this, I had a friend growing up whose mom wouldn&#8217;t let her watch <em>SpongeBob<\/em>. I understand now that this is not even close to the worst thing in the world, but when I was seven years old, it felt like the kind of human rights violation the UN would want to hear about. (She didn&#8217;t even know the theme song! Never before had a painting of a weathered pirate screamed &#8220;Are you ready, kids?&#8221; at her before launching into a boisterous sea shanty! What kind of life is that?)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Anyway, it&#8217;s the same with literature. Literature is just chock full of moms both good and bad.
