Nobody actually likes it, but we all have to pretend we do so we can keep society going.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The problem? It&#8217;s hard! It&#8217;s <em>hard<\/em> to talk about the weather, sports, the weather, pop culture, the weather, current events, and the weather. It&#8217;s <em>hard<\/em> to remain pleasantly nonintrusive for a sustained period of time without accidentally blurting out something intense and off-putting. It&#8217;s <em>hard<\/em> to try and forge a human connection with a Lyft driver or your dentist or the Target cashier who&#8217;s watching you purchase such a baffling assortment of items that she simply <em>had<\/em> to comment. But we all do it anyway, day after day after day, and I think that&#8217;s very brave of us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And even if you&#8217;re bad at making small talk, I can guarantee you&#8217;re at least better than the following fictional characters who wouldn&#8217;t last 2 seconds at a party without making it weird.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"text-align:center\">***<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>YOU:<\/strong> Can you believe this weather we&#8217;re having?<br><strong>DARCY:<\/strong> I&#8217;m not going to dance with you.<br><strong>YOU:<\/strong> Okay.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"text-align:center\">***<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>YOU:<\/strong> Seen any good movies lately?<br><strong>HOLDEN CAULFIELD:<\/strong> Hollywood is a cesspool just crawling with hypocrites, sell-outs, and phonies who would rather make lots of money and drive a Jaguar than engage with something real.<br><strong>YOU:<\/strong> I&#8217;ll take that as a no.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"text-align:center\">***<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>YOU:<\/strong> I like your shirt.
