Overview

Everyman, a novel by American author Philip Roth, was published in 2006. It tells the story of the life and death of its unnamed protagonist, referred to as “Everyman,” as he grapples with aging, illness, and the passage of time. Roth’s narrative weaves through the character’s personal relationships, regrets, and contemplations, meditating on mortality and the human condition. The novel explores themes of regret, loss, and the search for meaning in the face of life’s fleeting nature. Everyman won the PEN/Faulkner Award for Fiction in 2007.
