Macbeth is a play that contains many complex characters: Some are clearly good, or what we would consider heroic, while others display villainous characteristics. Students will use this worksheet to list the traits of a hero and a villain, assign these traits to different characters in the play, and then answer the questions: Is there a hero in Macbeth? If so, who is that hero? If not, why? Pass out this worksheet prior to reading the play and have students work on it as they read, taking note of evolving characters.
