Language expressing the emotions of love and hate has been used throughout the history of humanity. Students will use this worksheet to explore words used in Shakespeare’s time that are related in some way to either love or hate. Review the list carefully with students, explaining each of the words and its meaning. Then have students place each word on the spectrum based on the word’s meaning relative to love and hate. Finish with a class discussion in which students compare their spectrums and defend their choices.
