Your statement, "The House of Atreides is one of the families that rules over the planets and planetary systems of the universe", is not founded by the series. They only talked of traveling within the Milky Way Galaxy, never to another galaxy.
Even though the story is science fiction, Herbert kept things as realistic as possible. To FOLD SPACE at such a distance would have many drawbacks namely Space-time. At such a distance we see them as they were and WHERE the were at the time the light that we see from them got here. You could onl
