Overview

The Killer Angels is a historical novel by Michael Shaara that was first published in 1974. It is a fictional account of the Battle of Gettysburg, which took place during the American Civil War from July 1 to July 3, 1863. The novel is told from the perspectives of several different historical figures, including Confederate Generals Robert E. Lee, James Longstreet, and Union Colonel Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain. The Killer Angels won the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction in 1975 and was adapted into the 1993 film Gettysburg
