Overview

All the King's Men is a novel by Robert Penn Warren that was first published in 1946. The novel, which won Warren the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction in 1947 and was the basis for a film adaptation that won the Academy Award for Best Picture of 1949, is directly based on the rise to power and eventual assassination of Huey Long, who was a Governor, U.S. Senator, and political boss in Louisiana in the 1920s and 1930s.
