Overview

Long Day’s Journey into Night is a play by American playwright Eugene O’Neill that was published posthumously in 1956. The play is a semi-autobiographical account of O’Neill’s own family, and it explores themes of addiction, illness, and family dynamics. O’Neill wrote the play in the early 1940s, but he requested that it not be published until 25 years after his death. Long Day’s Journey into Night was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 1957.
