Overview
Uglies is a YA dystopian novel by American writer Scott Westerfeld published in 2005 that follows Tally Youngblood, a sixteen-year-old girl living in a post-apocalyptic society that is obsessed with beauty and uniformity
. Westerfeld continued the Uglies saga with Pretties (also in 2005) and Specials (2006), which continue Tally’s story, and then Extras (2007), which has a different progatonist. Uglies was named as among the “Best Books for Young Adults” by the American Library Association in 2006.
