Overview

“Shiloh” is short story by Bobbie Ann Mason that was published in 1982. It explores the lives of a young married couple in rural Kentucky, Norma Jean and Leroy, as they face the aftermath of Leroy's truck accident and grapple with changes in their relationship. Against the backdrop of a visit to the historic Civil War site, Shiloh, the story delves into themes of identity, alienation, and the quest for personal fulfillment. Mason also published a novel-length version of the story in 1987.
